This was my third time staying at the Big Bend Casitas/Far Flung Outdoor Center. I truly love staying there as all of the staff are so warm, friendly and eager to help in any way. The casitas are comfortable, clean and cozy. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful to behold. The evening campfire is always a favorite. And of course, the bunnies and birds are such a joy to watch! I can't wait until my next stay there!
Had an amazing time at Far Flung. Everyone was super friendly. We did two excursions. ATV in the morning with Carl and Molly and canoeing in the afternoon withTony and crew. We also stayed in one of the Casitas and it was wonderful. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool and the beautiful scenery. Enjoyed it so much cant wait to go back! Thank you all!!
We stayed 2 nights at Far Flung in late February, and it was the perfect home base for exploring Big Bend National Park. The room was very comfortable and clean. While the shower stall itself was on the small side, the water was hot and strong, the towels fluffy, so this serves more as a heads up than a reason to take away a star! We enjoyed the firepit, star-gazing from the hot tub, and the good coffee from onsite coffee stand, Bella Bean. We got the recommendation at check-in to hoof it over to the Starlight Theater before 5 for dinner, and we made it by 5:15, with a 45 minute wait to be seated, so I appreciated the insider knowledge. Everyone was super friendly on staff, and the grounds very well kept.
We had a fantastic 6-hour jeep tour with Lauren! You could immediately tell she loves her job and is passionate about the Big Bend area. She shared so much great information about the rock formations and native plants and even took photos of us at the well-known landmarks around Big Bend. Such a fun and memorable way to experience this beautiful area! She also gave us great tips and advice for our hiking trip the next morning! Highly recommend the Jeep tour with Far Flung and LAUREN!!
Our half day river trip was so much fun! The team was passionate about Big Bend and it was so contagious! Cole had great food recs that we would not have checked out otherwise, Andy really helped us figure out how to navigate our canoe, Sage was an absolute wealth of local knowledge, and Kalil almost had us tipping over with how hard we were laughing at his jokes! Can't wait to come back!
We had an amazing stay at Far Flung Outdoor Center near Big Bend and can’t recommend it enough. The cabins were spotlessly clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The hot tub was such a bonus there’s nothing better than soaking under the stars in such a peaceful, beautiful setting. Everything about our stay was easy, comfortable, and exactly what we were hoping for. If you’re visiting Big Bend or the surrounding area, this place is a must stay. We would absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable outdoor getaway.
Our lodging was an absolute delight! Everything was clean and well thought out. The "kitchen" had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable. The location was perfect for access to Big Bend. Davis Mountains were just north within reach. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area. Every vacation we always recap with a discussion about our favorite part of the trip. This year it was unanimous - everyone agreed we most loved sitting on our front porch watching the sun go down and the stars come out. We'll be back for certain!
What an incredible day on the water with Lauren and Laura from Far Flung Outdoor Center! Our half-day canoe trip on the Rio Grande River was easily one of the highlights of our time in the area. From the moment we met them, they felt less like guides and more like friends who were excited to share one of their favorite places with us. They took time to make sure we were comfortable and confident before launching, explaining everything clearly and patiently. Once we were on the river, they struck the perfect balance of giving helpful tips, pointing out interesting geology and wildlife, and letting us simply soak in the peaceful beauty around us. We shared laughs, learned so much about the canyon and the river’s history, and never once felt rushed. Lauren and Laura’s enthusiasm and genuine love for what they do made the whole experience special. If you’re considering a river trip, don’t hesitate — this was a true five-star adventure we’ll be talking about for a long time.
